The Mission

In a highly competitive and volatile gaming market, I advised two large institutional investors on acquisition strategy across private and publicly listed gaming companies. The engagements ranged from evaluating a broad pipeline of potential targets over multiple transactions to a longer, in-depth review of a single publicly listed company. My role was to provide an operator-led perspective on what constitutes durable value in games, and how deal structure, incentives, and risk allocation should be aligned to long-term performance.

I assessed leadership teams, governance structures, and execution capability, reviewed game portfolios for product quality and scalability, and analyzed less visible factors such as retention dynamics, community health, live-ops maturity, and platform exposure. In parallel, I advised on valuation frameworks, capital deployment discipline, and transaction structures appropriate for large-scale investments in the sector. Insights were delivered through structured memos and ongoing dialogue, supporting investment planning at a scale of several hundred million dollars while maintaining a disciplined, risk-aware approach to games.

I’m an early-stage seed investor in mobile and interactive entertainment companies including Superbloom, Artes Studio, Roamer Games, Funcraft, Sneaky Panda,  Audiomob and Indie BI, and  Masu is also a Limited Partner in the award-winning  Play Ventures Fund I. Beyond investing, I work hands-on as an advisor with Soliton, Goldon Studio and Dynasy Studios partnering with founders on go-to-market choices, business development, and practical, data-driven decisions as they build and scale their games.

Matias has extensive board and leadership experience. He served as CEO of Remedy Entertainment for eight years, the company grew from 18 employees to a publicly listed company shortly after his departure. He also served on the board of Starbreeze for five years, guiding the company through a volatile period as a listed entity.

In addition, Myllyrinne has served on the board of Avalanche Studios in Stockholm. As Head of Development at Wargaming, he was responsible for more than 2,000 developers globally. He also co-founded Redhill Games, which later pivoted to co-development work, collaborating with partners such as Supercell and Blizzard.At
